YellowMan is an unlikely fashion brand by unlikely fashion designers. Created by Peter Miu, YellowMan defines itself as “tattoo clothing inked by tattoo masters”.
Peter Miu began with an idea of creating multifunctional and fun-to-wear his/her underwear featuring tattoo art. For his fabrication, he engineered a high quality “MadKool” technical fabric with antimicrobial and wicking properties that is able to receive high quality tattoo art with vivid clarity.
As for the tattoo art, Mui spent a decade to accumulate an impressive tattoo art collection including Japanese Irezumi, Maori Tribal, American Traditional, New School, Biomechanical, and even rare work from a remote Buddhist monk in Thailand.

YellowMan has since expanded to include Men’s and Women’s T-shirts (also including tank tops and baby tees for ladies) and underwear (featuring boxers and briefs for the men and thongs, boy briefs and boy shorts for the ladies). Oh and let’s not also forget the intimates collection for women as well. Soon, YellowMan will also been offering tattoo snowboards.
While I personally do not see myself (or anyone that I know) as someone who would wear YellowMan, this is no doubt a rapidly growing brand. With over $10 million dollars in projected sales this year, that’s big business for a company that has only been in business for three years.
If it’s any additional indication, YellowMan has been worn by Jose Canseco, Sean Paul, Tim McGraw, Kevin Dillon (aka Drama from Entourage) on episode 32 and Dustin Diamond (Screech from Save by the Bell) on Celebrity Fit Club. Okay, so while the last two examples are not exactly A-listers, they are part of very popular television shows. Clearly, YellowMan has a good PR person whose friends with many T.V. stylists and costume designers. Even better, this PR person knows how to promote their celebrity fans with the “YellowMan Moment” section and video press page on their Web site. Additionally, Peter Mui was featured in Entrepreneur as one of “10 Booming Businesses in the Bust” this month.
